CHALLENGE COINS
Challenge coins are presented to service members as an award for special achievements and to commemorate special occasions.
Unit coins are some of the most highly coveted challenge coins in the Marine Corps, representing each Marine’s first unit in the Corps. The coins serve as a well-earned reminder of the challenges faced and overcome during Recruit training. The coins also serve as a brilliant memento or souvenir for proud family members who travel to see their loved ones graduate from boot camp.
Challenge Coins are available for purchase any time at the MCX Logo & Memorabilia Store, outside the Depot Theater on Family Day, and near the viewing stands before Graduation.
ENGRAVING & CUSTOM GIFTS
Visit our Engraving shop to get custom gifts and souvenirs, including engraved challenge coins, coin & Eagle Globe & Anchor (EGA) gift boxes, personalized knives, commemorative plaques, dog tags, and more. Bring your new Marine’s EGA in to have it mounted for display.

MARINE CORPS EXCHANGE (MCX)
The Marine Corps Exchange (MCX) is a department store where the sales generated go directly back into MCRD San Diego Marines’ quality of life infrastructure. Not only can you get high-quality, name-brand products below market prices, you can also support the programs and services used by your Marine and designed for their benefit. Show your support for your Marine by shopping at the MCX during your visit!

Monday-Saturday 9:00am – 6:00pm
Sundays and Holidays 10:00am – 5:00pm
The MCX Logo & Memorabilia Store offers the largest selection of official Marine Corps logo merchandise on the West Coast, along with California and San Diego themed souvenirs. Battalion and Company specific merchandise, perfect for showing support for your new Marine during your visit, is available for purchase.
The MCX Marine Mart is an ideal spot to grab a refreshing drink or a quick bite to eat. This convenience store features cold drinks, grab-and-go food, and sundries like sunscreen and batteries.
Please note, you must be 21 years old to purchase tobacco and alcoholic beverages. Civilians may not purchase alcohol and tobacco products aboard the Depot.

The MCX Main Store is home to our uniforms, jewelry, electronics, shoes, and apparel departments. You must be an authorized patron (active-duty, reservist, military retiree, or a military dependent with valid military-issued ID) in order to purchase within the Main Store. If you have a question, ask one of our helpful MCX associates, and they would be glad to assist you.
