The Family Advocacy Program's mission is to prevent and respond to intimate partner abuse, child abuse, and problematic sexual behavior in children and youth (PSBCY) with treatment, counseling, and education.

While FAP is known for providing assistance to families who have experienced domestic abuse or child abuse, our services are available to all families to ensure that you and your loved ones have the necessary tools to meet the challenges of the military, parenthood, and relationships. We invite all active-duty families to participate in our services.

Counseling Services

Clinicians are available for short-term, non-medical counseling. We can work with you to address issues that include relationship conflict, work stress, grief and loss, parenting and marriage challenges, and many other topics. Our licensed professionals work with you to address the areas of stress that you identify. Our work is guided by your goals and needs. Your family does NOT need to have an open FAP case to participate in counseling.

Prevention & Education

Our experienced Prevention & Education Specialist will provide classes and Command briefs on a variety of topics. Topics range from parenting to mood management and are intended to offer Marines and their families the tools and techniques to handle work and home life challenges.

New Parent Support Program

NPSP is a prevention and outreach program that offers in-home visits, parenting education classes, and information to active-duty families who are expecting or have at least one child age 5 or under.

Victim Advocacy

Our highly-trained civilian advocates are available 24/7 to talk confidentially to anyone experiencing domestic violence, seeking resources or information, or questioning unhealthy aspects of their relationship. Advocates are supportive and nonjudgmental, they can help with: informing you of your reporting options, developing a personalized safety plan, how to obtain a Military Protective Order and/or a civilian Restraining Order, and provide accompaniment to medical or legal proceedings.

There are two different reporting options for seeking help if you or a loved one have experienced domestic abuse. With either option, victims have access to victim advocacy services, counseling, and medical care. Please talk with a Victim Advocate about your options and other sources of support before making a decision. *Child Abuse is always unrestricted.*

Restricted Reporting:

Restricted reporting allows an adult victim of domestic abuse to disclose the details of his or her abuse to specifically identified individuals and receive medical treatment and victim advocacy services without requiring that notice be provided to the victim or alleged offender’s commander or law enforcement. Restricted reporting may encourage victims to feel more comfortable and safe to report abuse.

Unrestricted Reporting:

Adult victims of domestic abuse who want to pursue an official investigation of an incident should use current reporting channels, e.g., chain of command, Family Advocacy Program (FAP), or law enforcement. Upon notification of a reported domestic abuse incident, victim advocacy services and FAP clinical services will be offered to the victim. If children are present or victims, reports must be unrestricted.
