OSCAR Teams Were Born From the Fight and For the Fight

We all know the Marine Corps throws curveballs – deployments, field ops, the daily grind – stress is part of the deal. Sometimes we handle it well, sometimes we don't. That's where your OSCAR Team comes in.

OSCAR (Operational Stress Control and Readiness) Teams - that's your Marine-to-Marine support network. OSCAR Teams are all about keeping Marines ready to fight. It’s designed by Marines, for Marines, using the latest science on how staying connected with your team. Having strong peer support can help prevent stress and improve overall readiness.

OSCAR Teams are made up of Marines, chaplains, and docs from your unit and they’re trained to help you manage stress before it becomes a problem. This isn't some touchy-feely program; this is about maintaining combat effectiveness and unit readiness. A resilient Marine is a ready Marine.

OSCAR Teams strengthen the unit, build resilience, and keep Marines in the fight. If you’re a leader think of OSCAR Teams as a leadership tool that helps shape your unit’s culture and vibe, ensuring everyone stays fit and mission-ready, both mentally and physically.

They lead discussions on topics you actually care about mental toughness, mindfulness, self-care, staying fit – physically and mentally – managing stress, and getting good sleep. Need help with relationships, finances, career questions, or legal issues? Your OSCAR team can point you to the right resources.

Think of it this way: OSCAR is preventative maintenance for your mind and body - they're your battle buddies, equipped to help you navigate the challenges of Marine Corps life. They know the pressures you face because they face them too.

OSCAR resources are available on the COSC SharePoint.  Want to know more about your unit’s OSCAR Team or how to become a member? Contact your unit COSC representative.
